This Free Printable Thanksgiving Placemat is as Cute as it is Fun for Kids
Anytime I set out to create something new, I generally aim for function and aesthetics. I mean, let’s face it, the function is the primary goal. But I find myself more inclined to use something if it’s also aesthetically pleasing.
And this free printable Thanksgiving placemat is no exception.
In this case, I set out to make something that visually appealed to adults and kids alike.
This activity placemat is clean and sophisticated enough to grace any Thanksgiving tablescape. And with the splashes of color and cute turkey graphic, kids will gobble up the fun. 😉

Free Printable Thanksgiving Placemat is Perfect for Ages 4-9
The activities on this free printable Thanksgiving placemat are ideal for kids aged 4-9 years old.
Despite the recommended age range, kids of all ages will enjoy this Thanksgiving placemat printable.
Our oldest is pushing 12 years old, and she still enjoys activity placemats such as this. She just blows through them pretty quickly.
Even so, she does a great job helping her younger cousins with the activities. Sometimes she even helps her younger sister! 😉
Younger kids may need some assistance with the thankfulness section or the word search. But that’s ok! That’s where adults and older kids can jump in for the assist!
Four Activities to Choose From in This Thanksgiving Placemat Printable
This Thanksgiving placemat printable has 4 activities for kids to try before succumbing to the inevitable turkey coma or pie-high.
My favorite item on this free printable Thanksgiving placemat is the ‘I am thankful for…’ section.
Each holiday without fail, we make sure to take a moment to share what we’re all thankful for as we’re gathered together.
And having a section devoted to this practice on individual placemats provides a wonderful opportunity for kids to consider this carefully.
This is also a great way for little ones with tendencies toward shyness or nervousness to participate in a thankfulness activity. They simply record what they are thankful for and a parent or sibling then shares their gratitude with the group on their behalf.
Fair warning: get ready to ooh and aww during this activity.
I’m forever impressed and touched by how often kids focus on very simple things when listing things they are thankful for.
Some memorable submissions for the thankfulness activity so far are ketchup, puppy dog kisses and being carried.
Tic Tac Toe Activity
An activity placemat wouldn’t be complete without some tic tac toe boards!
This is a great way for kids to play together or for some of the adults to get in on the action.
You could even have a mini tic tac toe tournament.
The winner could get the turkey wishbone or the biggest piece of pie!
Free Printable Thanksgiving Word Search
I’m a sucker for a good word search.
It takes me back to my competitive word search days when my aunt and I would race to see who could finish their board first. (Spoiler alert: she smoked me regularly…)
With a list of Thanksgiving-themed words, this activity is the perfect addition to this placemat.
Keep the fun going by challenging older kids to seek other words in the puzzle that aren’t on the list. There are always a few!
Coloring is a great calming activity for kids (and adults) of all ages. And with all the hustle and bustle that accompanies big family get-togethers, a calming activity is a welcome addition to this free printable Thanksgiving printable.
